If you took a kitten or a puppy or a baby, what have you, and threw it into the woods and leave it with a pack of wolves, and those wolves raise that kitten or that puppy, teach it how to hunt, how to live like a wolf, and you go back a couple years later and see that kitten or that puppy living with the wolves, hunting with them wolves, is family to them wolves. At night when the moon comes up and the wolves start howling, who are you to tell that kitten or that puppy that he can’t howl with them wolves? It’s definitely not me opening any doors or being like, “It’s okay for other people to do it,” it’s just me. If some white folks come around me and say “nigga,” somebody fixin’ to get beat up. - There is no shortage of talented actors of South Asian descent whether from within the United States, from the UK, or Bollywood—and many of them even have the last name of Khan.
- With Star Trek Into Darkness the name “Khan” is once again stigmatized as antagonistic, but the actors named Khan, the Khans of the world, and those who look like Khans once again have no voice about how they are represented in American media.
If you’re an award winning actor named Khan, you will still get stopped and humiliated at the airport. When that rare character in American media finally shows up sharing your name, he will be played by a white British man. That actor will wear your name for one movie and sneer and strut to great critical acclaim. You will wear your racialized name, your skin color, and hope you don’t get detained another time.

L M F A O. yo for real, i seriously just chuckled so hard because isn’t that what black women and black people in general fight for on a consistent basis? to be recognized as individual, as human, as our own selves regardless of our circumstances and the fact that we happen to be black. your whole lives you’ve been taught to consider white people as human, as individuals, that one is not the other and you claim it’s unfair to judge an entire race off of the actions of “a few”. that’s these niggas entire argument. that white people are individuals. as if that fact hasn’t been shoved down our throats while our own individuality as black women is consistently denied not only by the white media but black men themselves. when we’re regarded and disrespected as a giant homogeneous group despite our pleas for this very specific and necessary recognition.
black men are legitimately standing on a mountain and crying about how the individuality of white people should be acknowledged while dismissing and disrespecting their own kind and ignoring their humanity gleefully, and not even drawing those parallels because nuance escapes them completely. like i said i let you niggas marinate, you not even ready to cook.
